Welcome to the School's Out Blog Blowout! I am super excited to share what I'm reading this summer, give you a resource freebie, and let you know about my summer bucket list. At the end of this post, there are directions for how to enter to win a $100 gift certificate to Teachers Pay Teachers.
This blog hop runs from July 2 until July 8. You will have one week to get the resource freebie. Sarah from Kovescence of the Mind will choose a winner for the TpT gift certificate at the end of the week.
First, a look into what I'm reading this summer...
I have so many books I want to read this summer, both for fun and to help me become a better teacher. I just started reading Whole Brain Teaching for Challenging Kids by Chris Biffle.
When I read the back of the book, I knew I had to get it. "...Whole Brain Teaching recognizes that students learn the most when they are engaged in lessons that involve seeing, hearing, doing, speaking, and listening." I would like to think all my lessons naturally incorporate these five components, but I know they don't. I've watched videos on Whole Brain Teaching and used some of what I've learned in my classroom to great success, Many of my kiddos have short attention spans and/or are very energetic. I'm looking forward to leaning more to help them stay engaged.
Now for your freebie...
I am so excited to give you your freebie! This will only be available during the blog hop, so be sure to download it before July 9.
These Fraction and Decimals Math Puzzles can be found here. (Update: The limited time freebie has expired.) This is part of a larger set that is sold in my store. These 20 math puzzles were designed to help students practice matching fractions with their corresponding word form, decimal, and picture model. I have included 10 puzzles to practice identifying tenths (one tenth to ten tenths) and 10 puzzles to practice identifying hundredths (one hundredth to ten hundredths).
Each fraction/decimal is on one page. |

Print the puzzle pieces on heavy card stock and laminate for a reusable resource. Cut the puzzle pieces prior to giving to them to your students. This can be used for small group instruction or in a learning center. I hope your class enjoys it as much as my kiddos have!
My summer bucket list...
There are so many things I want to do this summer. I go back to school in less than a month, so I'm trying to cram it all in.
I have been trying to learn how to use my Silhouette Cameo. I know there are so many things I can make for my classroom, not to mention all of the things I can do to beautify my life!

Maybe I should change my store name to The Crafty Teacher. |
I never have time to read for pleasure during the school year, so I've been trying to catch up this summer. So far I have read Me Without You by Jojo Moyes, The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchison, and Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter. All were excellent. Do you ever start reading a book and get so wrapped up that you can't put it down? I'm talking reading in bed until 3 a.m. because you just want to read "one more chapter." Surely, it's not just me!

Another item on my bucket list is getting prepared for this next school year. If you are anything like me, you know that "getting prepared" is an excuse to shop! Check out these amazing book bins I found at the Target Dollar Spot:

I really do love you, Target!

One thing on my bucket list that I haven't been able to do yet is to go to the beach. I still hope to go before school starts, even if it's only for a weekend.

This was taken the last time I was in the Bahamas. The water really is that blue! |
The last things on my bucket list include relaxing, sleeping in, cooking, and watching a ton of Netflix. I know these are not typically bucket list items, but they make me so happy. I know that once school starts my life will be too busy to have days that are all mine.

It's the little things that make me happy! |
I hope you enjoyed your freebie and learning a little more about me. Be sure to enter for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate from TpT. Good luck!

I don't think your freebie is marked down yet!
ReplyDeleteHi Myranda! My freebie isn't listed in my store. It's on a google drive. The link is the word "here" in the sentence "These Fraction and Decimals Math Puzzles can be found here." located after the picture of the product. I hope your students enjoy these puzzles!
DeleteI feel the same way about your last things on your bucket list. Mine seems fairly similar... :)
